Sartopure® GF Plus Maxicaps®
Sartopure® GF Plus Maxicaps® are ready-to-use capsule depth filters for clarification and prefiltration in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical process streams. The enclosed capsule design supports integration into single-use processing lines and reduces the need for stainless steel housings. The two-layer pleated glass-fiber fleece combines adsorptive and mechanical retention to reduce colloids, lipids, protein aggregates and particles before downstream filtration or purification steps.
Main Formats:
- Retention Ratings: Available in 0.65 µm and 1.2 µm to support selection based on feed stream composition, particulate load and downstream process requirements.
- Maxicaps® Sizes: Available in 10", 20" and 30" formats with nominal filtration areas of 0.4 m², 0.8 m² and 1.2 m².
- Ready-to-Use Capsule Format: Designed as an enclosed filtration unit for single-use process lines, pilot-scale applications and manufacturing workflows.
- Connector Options: Available with connector configurations such as stepped hose barb and Tri-Clamp connections, depending on process setup and selected article.
Applications:
- Cell Culture Harvest Clarification: Supports reduction of particles, colloids, lipids and protein aggregates in harvested cell culture fluids.
- Fermentation Broth Prefiltration: Suitable for clarification before downstream membrane filtration, chromatography or ultrafiltration.
- Media and Serum Filtration: Applicable for serum-free and serum-containing media, serum and process fluids with lipid or colloidal contaminants.
- Viscous Pharmaceutical Solutions: Can be used for prefiltration of viscous ophthalmic and large-volume parenteral solutions.
- Single-Use Bioprocessing: Designed for disposable manufacturing lines where enclosed, ready-to-use filtration units are preferred.
Materials Used:
- Filter Medium: Double-layer glass-fiber fleece for adsorptive and mechanical retention.
- Support Fleece: Polypropylene.
- Capsule Housing: Polypropylene.
- Core and End Caps: Polypropylene.
- O-Rings: Silicone as standard, with EPDM or fluoroelastomer options depending on configuration and process requirements.
- Regulatory-Related Product Information: Non-pyrogenic according to USP Bacterial Endotoxins test and passes USP Plastic Class VI test, according to product documentation.
Advantages:
- Adsorptive Depth Filtration: Glass-fiber fleece supports reduction of colloids, lipids, protein aggregates and particles in challenging process streams.
- Enclosed Capsule Design: Ready-to-use format simplifies integration into single-use and closed processing concepts.
- Defined Retention Options: 0.65 µm and 1.2 µm ratings allow adaptation to different clarification and prefiltration needs.
- Scalable Capsule Range: 10", 20" and 30" Maxicaps® formats support process development, pilot-scale work and manufacturing applications.
- Downstream Process Protection: Helps reduce particulate and colloidal burden before membrane filters, chromatography columns and ultrafiltration systems.
- Sterilization Option: Maxicaps® can be autoclaved within specified operating limits.
- Process Flexibility: Multiple sizes and connector options support adaptation to different process layouts and filtration assemblies.
Together, these features make Sartopure® GF Plus Maxicaps® a practical capsule depth filtration option for clarification, prefiltration and downstream process protection in biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical workflows.
