The BioPAT® Xgas combines one oxygen and one carbon dioxide sensor with automatic humidity and pressure compensation in a single compact analyzer. The gas to be analyzed flows through the integrated flow adapter past the measuring chambers, where pressure, humidity, oxygen, and carbon dioxide concentrations are measured.
The zirconium dioxide sensor measures oxygen in the range of 1–50 vol% with an accuracy better than 0.2% full scale over the entire measurement range and ±3% of reading. The measurement principle requires a sensor temperature of 580°C (1,076°F). The O₂ sensor operates within specification for up to 15,000 hours (approximately 20 months) with less than 2% drift. A minimum oxygen concentration of 0.1% is required during operation to avoid damage to the electrode cell; exposure to non-oxygen gas mixtures must therefore be avoided.
The dual-wavelength infrared sensor measures carbon dioxide in the range of 0–10 vol% with an accuracy better than 0.2% full scale over the entire measurement range and ±3% of reading. This robust sensor operates within specification for up to 20,000 working hours (approximately 25 months) with less than 2% drift. As a non-standard option, the sensor can be recalibrated to measure higher CO₂ concentrations at reduced accuracy.
