BioPAT® Trace Buffer Salt Mixture | Glucose & Lactate

The BioPAT® Trace Buffer Solutions and Buffer Salt Mixtures are specially formulated for use with the BioPAT® Trace and BioPAT® Multi Trace systems and are absolutely required for proper system functionality.

For glucose and lactate applications in cell culture processes, a buffer salt mixture is supplied in packs of five bags, each yielding 5 liters of buffer solution (total 5 × 5 L).

For glucose and lactate in microbial processes, as well as for ethanol and methanol applications, ready-to-use buffer solutions are available in 2 liter bottles. These buffers ensure reliable preparation of the acceptor stream and support accurate online monitoring and control of key metabolites.

Overview

Specifications

The BioPAT® Trace and BioPAT® Multi Trace systems require two calibration solutions and a transport buffer to operate and to accurately determine analyte concentrations in the sampled vessel.

These liquids are connected to the labeled endpoints of the tube set and are automatically pumped within the system loop. The transport buffer does not directly mix with the vessel contents; instead, during the sampling cycle its flow is temporarily stopped behind a permeable membrane, allowing small molecules to diffuse into the buffer without any loss of vessel volume.

After a defined time, the flow resumes and the enriched buffer is transported to the biosensor for analysis. The measured signal is then correlated with the linear calibration to yield the bulk concentration, while a valve-controlled bypass route ensures precise control of the sampling and measurement sequence.
