Automated WIT Trolley for Sartocheck® 5 Plus

Automated Water Intrusion Testing

The Sartocheck® 5 Plus WIT Trolley supports automated water intrusion testing of hydrophobic vent filters in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Its connection to the Sartocheck® 5 Plus Filter Tester or Sartocheck® 5 Plus Universal simplifies filter housing setup, water handling and test workflows.

Filter Testing Applications

• The trolley is suitable for water intrusion testing of critical and non-critical hydrophobic vent filters.
• Typical applications include WFI tank venting, autoclave venting, freeze dryer venting and non-critical compressed gas line filtration.
• Standard filter integrity tests can also be performed while the trolley is connected to the Sartocheck® 5 Plus Filter Tester.
• The 20 L vessel supports controlled wetting of hydrophilic filters at a defined pressure and for a defined time.

Streamlined Operation

• Top-and-bottom connections support a straightforward connection to the filter housing.
• Automated overfilling helps fill the housing completely and remove air bubbles before testing.
• An anti-backflow valve helps prevent test water from entering the Sartocheck® 5 Plus Filter Tester during filling.
• After testing, compressed air actively drains the filter housing, while the test water is directed to the drain instead of being reused.

Process Integration

• OPC UA enables integration into automated process environments.
• After the filter housing is filled, the trolley can trigger the connected Sartocheck® 5 Plus Filter Tester within the automated sequence.
• Active draining can also be initiated automatically through the automation system.
• PAS-X integration requires software version 3.2.0 or later. Modbus TCP is also available with the compatible Sartocheck® 5 Plus Filter Tester and Sartocheck® 5 Plus Universal.

Steamable Components

• Wetted stainless-steel parts, including the pressure vessel and overflow tank, can be steamed in line.
• The components support in-line steaming at temperatures up to 134 °C.
• A temperature sensor at the lowest point verifies that the defined temperature is maintained for the required steaming time.
• The design supports integration into processes that include in-line steam treatment of wetted components.

Validation And Support

• Each Sartocheck® 5 Plus WIT Trolley undergoes factory acceptance testing before release.
• Qualified Sartorius service personnel can perform installation qualification, operational qualification or site acceptance testing.
• IQ and OQ documentation is included with delivery.
• Software updates are included in the purchase price, and each update includes a risk assessment to support implementation and change control.

Equipment Supplied

• The delivery includes the Sartocheck® 5 Plus WIT Trolley.
• A tubing set for filling and overflow is included, with a valve to prevent backflow into the connected filter tester.
• The scope of supply includes a steam trap, installation and operating instructions, and a validation package.
• A country-specific mains lead is included.
• The Sartocheck® 5 Plus Filter Tester or Sartocheck® 5 Plus Universal is required for operation and must be ordered separately.
