BioPAT® Trace and BioPAT® Multi Trace Hardware are compact online analysis systems designed for real-time monitoring and automated control of critical bioprocess parameters.

The robust metal housings and external PC-based operation enable easy integration into laboratory and production environments. Both systems support real-time, online monitoring of key bioprocess parameters such as:

  • Glucose and Lactate
  • Methanol or Ethanol

These systems enable fully automated feed and bleed control without operator intervention during the bioprocess, improving process consistency and reducing manual workload.

BioPAT® Trace is configured for one probe, ideal for focused applications, while BioPAT® Multi Trace supports up to four probes for multi-parameter monitoring within a single device.

Key features:

  • Real-time online monitoring of bioprocess parameters
  • Automated parameter-based feed | bleed control capability
  • Single-use sensor and fluidic elements
  • Compact, space-saving design
  • Room temperature stable biosensors
  • Wide linear measuring range

Each hardware system is delivered with:

  • Power adapter
  • International power plugs (Europe, USA, UK)
  • Ethernet cable
  • Operating instructions
  • PC software

This makes BioPAT® Trace and BioPAT® Multi Trace complete, ready-to-use solutions for advanced bioprocess monitoring and control.

Overview

Specifications

BioPAT® Trace and BioPAT® Multi Trace are online analysis systems for real-time monitoring of glucose and lactate in microbial and cell culture processes, with optional measurement of ethanol or methanol. They support all common cultivation modes (batch, fed-batch, continuous) in laboratory and industrial environments.

BioPAT® Trace monitors a single vessel, while BioPAT® Multi Trace offers the same measurement functionality but can automatically sample from up to four vessels without operator intervention, enabling automated parameter control (e.g. feed or perfusion rate adjustment).

Typical measuring ranges are:

  • Glucose: 0.1–40 g/L
  • Lactate: 0.05–10 g/L
  • Methanol: 0.5–20 g/L
  • Ethanol: 1–40 g/L

Depending on conditions, BioPAT® Trace delivers up to 30 analyses per hour. BioPAT® Multi Trace provides measurements approximately every 6–7 minutes with four vessels connected.

Both systems are designed for easy operation after a short introduction and can be integrated into control systems via Modbus|OPC® to Biobrain® Supervise. BioPAT® Trace additionally offers standard analog outputs for connection to BioPAT® DCU and Biostat® systems. A minimum two-point calibration with traceable solutions from Sartorius Stedim Biotech is required to define the linear measuring range.
