The BioPAT® Pinch Valve is a tubing pinch valve consisting of a valve body and a dedicated control drive. It is specifically designed for the automated pinching of flexible tubing. The valve body must only be operated in combination with the Sartorius control drive intended for BioPAT® Pinch Valves.
The BioPAT® Pinch Valve is suitable for both opening and closing operations, as well as applications requiring precise flow regulation. Flow rate can be adjusted through linear positioning of the pinch mechanism between fully open and fully closed states.
Once the tubing is correctly installed and the valve lid is securely closed, the degree of openness is controlled by the movement of the gripper and spindle, which are driven by the motor. Moving these components toward the lid increases the pinching force, while moving them away reduces it.
To reopen the tubing, the drive retracts the shaft and gripper deeper into the valve body. During this process, the gripper slightly closes to help restore the tubing to its original shape. This re-opening mechanism is an intentional design feature of the BioPAT® Pinch Valve, ensuring reliable reformation of the tube cross-section even after extended periods of closure.
Specifically, during reopening, the gripper levers gently press the tubing walls inward while the spindle and gripper move away from the lid, facilitating a controlled and consistent return to the original tubing geometry.
